Many stories today are too black and white—a much truer-to-life story lives in the gray area. Gods in modern media are often described as embodying one character trait, being one sided, or mono faceted. Gods should be a reflection of thousands of years of humanity.
This series explores how people react to stress and hardship. And how certain situations can make good people do bad things, bad people do good things, and everything in between. We examine what makes people break down, what builds them up. What brings people close and what tears them apart. What it means to be human and what it could mean to be immortal.
Mathew and Miles Clarke ran away from home to protect their family from the attention of the strange creatures only they can see. After losing their father's defensive amulet, they find themselves thrust into a war between the gods over the fate of humanity. Neither wants to end up a pawn in the gods' plans. Just as the Clarke brothers find a safe place where they might fit in, their world is turned upside down again. The brothers must learn to have faith in themselves and their friends to find home.

Kara homeschooled her son Devan from third through eighth grade. His first writing assignment was to mimic a book from the Beast Quest series, his favorite at the time. Devan loved this assignment and has been an avid writer ever since. Over the pandemic they started writing together to explore Devan’s story idea, and what started as a friendly challenge became much more. They each wrote a chapter, combined them, and loved the outcome.
When not writing together, Devan loves painting Warhammer figurines and staring at critters under a microscope, while his mom enjoys cooking and nonprofit work.
